Today, The marathon event is held at an ekementary schools of Karen and Hikaru. These shots are taken just after finishing long runs. Hikaru ran about 1.5 mile. Karen ran about 3 miles. Today has been a good day to play sports.

We didn't get as bad as storm as predicted (yeah!!) but we did get hours of rain followed by about an 1 1/2 inches of snow. The result is this icky yucky ugly pond - I mean street in front of my house. Since the temperature is dropping fast you can imagine what a nice ice rink my street will be in the morning - ahhhh the joys and beauty of a midwest winter :o)

On a side note, I went to the grocery store tonight for the second time today. The lady in front of me was trying to buy a plumcot. The checker could not find the code, and the plumcot didn't have a produce code sticker. I let the checker search for the code for quite a while. Being a former checker and little vocal, I finally couldn’t keep quite any longer. I nicely ask him if he could look it up in his computer. He said no, he could only weight things or look up department codes. The lady trying to buy the plumcot kept telling him that they were $1.49 a pound. He weighs the plumcot to find that it weighed 0.4lbs. He had a look of bewilderment on his face that said I just don't know how I'm going to figure this out. Then almost as if he was thinking out loud he said, "half of $1.49 would be..." Silence. I gave my teacher "wait time" before I finally blurted 75cents. To which he responded “but it weighs 0.4.” So I told him to ring it as 50 cents fresh produce. I knew that was a little cheaper than it should be, but the checker behind him had already checked 4 people while we were going through this, and I’m kicking myself for not only choosing the line, but forgetting the mayonnaise on trip 1 to the store. Finally his manager came over and helped him figure out what to do. When manager left, the checker, trying to hold back tears, announced that his day just couldn't get any worse. Are you kidding me? I guess this gives me more motivation to get up in the morning and keep teaching.

I know these aren't beautiful,but I do enjoy bird watching a great deal. It is relaxing and fun to watch the birds flying all over the sky. To me hearing a bird sing is freedom and peace. If you flip thru my post photos fast you will feel like you are there watching the birds fly over the lake. And there is nothing like ending a full day of bird watching with the beauty of a great sunset!! Peace to you PC.
